Board 2019

Ikara Hassan – Chairwoman

Hello,

My name is Ikara Hassan and I am a second-year student studying to become an English teacher at secondary school level. I am privileged to be able to call myself chairwoman this coming year. I have been living in Nijmegen for almost 4 years and I have come to love this amazing city. I find it quite important to be involved in extra-curricular activities as a student. This was the reason that I was an active participant in several committees at different study and student associations. I also find it important to be able to contribute to a good cause which is why I have chosen to join the RAGweek Foundation. I am very excited for what this coming year will bring us and I am certain that with the help of the rest of my amazing board, we will be able to provide an amazing RAGweek. I do hope to see you at one of our activities.

Liese van Heumen – Secretary

Hi everyone,

My name is Liese van Heumen, I am 22 years old and I will be the new Secretary of the RAGweek Foundation Nijmegen. I have been studying for 4 years now at Radboud University and I decided 3 years ago to leave my childhood city Arnhem for our beautiful city Nijmegen. The past year I have completed my Bachelor’s in Communication Science and celebrated this with the most wonderful trip to Indonesia. Travelling and exploring new things and places is something I am still excited to do, but for now I will go back to studying and start my Master’s degree program Pro-social Communication.

The thought of my time as a student coming to an end is one I’d rather not think about, so when I got the chance to apply for the board I knew I had to take advantage of this opportunity. It is a great honour to be part of the board and to set up the RAGweek this year. Together with the rest of the 12th board I am gonna do everything I can to make this week unforgettable!

Patrick van Aken – Treasurer

Hi everyone,

I am Patrick van Aken, 22 years old and a fourth year student of Communication and Information studies. I live in Nijmegen for three years now and in these three years I enjoyed everything of the life of a student. I have been very active in different committees in my study association from the moment I moved to Nijmegen. The best thing in these three years was leading the Orientation Week committee last orientation week. This year I wanted something new, something more challenging and therefore I chose to sign up for the board of RAGweek, because I think it perfectly fits me! Gather as much money as possible is a beautiful goal for next year. As the treasurer of the 12th board of RAGweek Nijmegen and together with my fellow board members I am 100% sure that we will raise a lot of money. I’d love to see you all during one of our activities, see ya!

Sanne Liefers – Board member Sponsorship

Hi everyone!

My name is Sanne Liefers, I am 20 years old and I am a second-year student of Political Science. This year I will be responsible for the sponsorship on the board of the Stichting RAGweek Nijmegen. I am originally from Dronten (a small town in Flevoland), but I moved to Nijmegen two years ago. I really enjoyed the student life during these years! Next to my studies I like to do several things such as being involved with different committees with ismus as well as working as a nutritional assistant. Of course I also like going to the gym and hanging out with my friends. I really look forward to organise another awesome RAGweek and I hope to see you all at one (or more) of our activities!

Alexander Currie – Board member PR

Dear reader,

I would like to introduce myself to you as Alexander Currie. I have been strutting around on this planet for 22 years, of which I have spent the past three years in the beautiful Nijmegen at the Medical Faculty. If not, you can probably spot me somewhere with a photo camera in the city, in one of the many (special beer) pubs that Nijmegen is famous for, or (in an extremely rare case) in a rowing boat on the Maas-Waal Canal.

‘Time flies when you’re having fun’, a wise man once said. I fully agree with this and therefore try to get as much out of my student time as possible, before I start my internships. With the same approach I am active at the Cycloop, Phocas and last year I organized the 46th Batavierenrace as Secretary. This year I hope to contribute to organizing the RAGweek, again armed with a laptop, but then photoshopping and abusing Microsoft Paint, as I hold the position of board member PR this year.

I am really looking forward to setting up a fantastic RAGweek together with five other wonderful people. Feel free to visit our activities or visit our office for a cup of tea / coffee or a beer!

Greetings!

Laura Loenen – Board member Acitivities

Hey you,

I am Laura Loenen and a second year Artificial Intelligence student. I might be the youngest person in the board, but I have quite some committee experience within our study association CognAC already. This year I decided to accept another challenge and join a board year to broaden my horizon even more. I love organising activities and getting to know new people, so that is why the function ‘board member activities’ really suits me. Next to that I am someone that is always on the move, because if I’m not doing any board or committee work, I love to go to do sports or Netflix with my friends and roommates. I’m really excited to make the upcoming RAGweek amazing with my fellow boardmembers and I am sure we can donate a lot of money to charity again!
